Covers
Cover designs while working at Nashville Lifestyles ; Taylor image was supplied, I did the cover design ; Dr. Travis image, I art directed on set and did the layout. One of my passions while working with NL was the wedding magazine Nashville Lifestyles Weddings which ultimately led to my job with Brides in New York.
History
This was an editorial layout for a history story while at Nashville Lifestyles magazine. I was told by my to become manager at Tom Ford that this layout was what secured my job at TF - that it showed how I could take complex information and style the typography in a visually interesting and clean format. On this project, I partnered with a local historian who helped source imagery. This is just an excerpt but was a great project to work on!
Fashion
This is an excerpt from a fashion story that I art directed with the photographer, producer and stylist. It featured nine people who were changing the local fashion industry. It was the last shoot I worked on before I moved to New York, to work in fashion. Each shot had a different set up, most on location.
These are examples of fashion and beauty pages I designed, with supplied assets. At Nashville Lifestyles I also photographed the society events, which is an interest of mine.
Get the Look - Home
This is an example of a shorter home story. When I was at NL, there was also a magazine redesign that I partnered on with the other designer. These layouts are post-redesign, where we gave more structure and design styles to the extra wide publication and created recurring sections of the book, indicated with styling (I.e. The Good Life at top).
Downtown Nashville
Example of a fun opener I created for a downtown story about Nashville, which featured Kacey Musgraves on the cover. A bucket list bingo game with a free space that is the three stars of the TN flag.
Singles
Art directed the recurring Most Eligible Singles shoot (a fun one!). This is an excerpt for the opener graphic, which featured NHL player Roman Josi, inside and on the cover. Each year for the recurring lists, I would come up with the theme, fonts, and design cues, to keep it exciting year over year. These issues had corresponding events such as Single in the City.
Weddings
The start of my design career was with a wedding publication in Chapel Hill, where I worked on shoots and the layout of Southern Weddings magazine. Then, while at Nashville Lifestyles, I had a special letter up front as the creative director for NL Weddings, hand selecting the 25 real weddings, and designed the magazine. That led me to Brides magazine, where I worked on advertorial content, promos and events. I have also worked a handful of real weddings with wedding planners and designed and planned much of my own wedding, invitation suite and programs.
